Context about Ya’el provided by Max:
“Ya’el is a character from Judges 4, which tells of a battle between the Israelites and the Canaanites. The Canaanites are led by their army commander, Sisera. The Israelites are led by Barak, their army commander, and (at Barak’s request) D’vorah the prophetess, who tells Barak “God will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” By the time Ya’el is introduced, Sisera is proven to be a coward, who abandoned his fleet after it became clear they would lose. Ya’el invites Sisera into her tent, covers him with a blanket, and gives him some milk to make him fall asleep. As he sleeps, she drives a tentpin through his temple.
The rabbis offer a number of midrashim on the story of Ya’el and Sisera, including that her voice was irresistibly seductive, that Sisera tried to (or perhaps did) have sex with her seven times, and that through this act she was elevated to the status of the Sarah, Rivkah, Leah, and Rachel.”
